Luxor Launches AI Data Sets on Hashrate Index, Led by the AI Hardware Price Index
Hashrate Index expands into AI market data. The AI Hardware Price Index, the first public reference price for AI compute hardware, is the first data set in the suite, with compute spot pricing and compute derivatives data to follow.
Bellevue, Washington — August 31st, 2026 — Luxor Technology Corporation today announced the expansion of Hashrate Index, its data and research platform, into AI market data. Hashrate Index now publishes AI data sets, beginning with the AI Hardware Price Index, the first public reference price for AI compute hardware, with additional data sets to follow.
The AI Hardware Price Index tracks the daily median asking price of air-cooled 8-GPU NVIDIA HGX nodes across three series: B300 (new), H100 (new), and H100 (refurbished), available per node and per GPU, in USD or BTC. At launch, the index prints a B300 node at $544,280 ($68,035 per GPU), a new H100 node at $324,438 ($40,555 per GPU), and a refurbished H100 node at $246,000 ($30,750 per GPU). Figures are posted vendor asks, not closed transactions, with every listing carried at its last observed price and the published value calculated as the median of all live listings each day. Dedicated B300 Node and H100 Node pages break out each platform with full series history.
The market for AI compute hardware operates without public price discovery. Asking prices for identical machines currently span as much as 1.7x across vendors, and the secondary market runs through private broker relationships. The launch prints also provide the first public datapoint for GPU depreciation analysis: refurbished H100 nodes trade at 76% of new. Luxor built the ASIC Price Index into the reference price for Bitcoin mining hardware in 2020; the AI Hardware Price Index applies the same construction to AI hardware.
"We saw the same market structure emerge before. In 2020, mining hardware traded on private quotes with no public reference, so we built the ASIC Price Index, and it became an industry benchmark in research and financing agreements. AI hardware is at that same stage today, and we are running the same playbook," said Ethan Vera, COO of Luxor Technology.
The AI data suite expands from here. Upcoming additions include compute derivatives data covering both Bitcoin and AI markets, and compute spot pricing, a hashprice equivalent for AI that tracks what deployed compute earns. On the hardware side, H200 and B200 price series are next, and Luxor is working toward transaction-derived pricing built on executed secondary market data.
