Luxor Technologies’s Antminer firmware, LuxOS, now supports the Antminer S19 Pro and S19.

Seattle, WA - April 17, 2023 – Luxor Technologies, a full-stack Bitcoin mining software and services company, is expanding support for LuxOS, the first third-party Antminer-compatible firmware designed and engineered in the United States.

LuxOS is now available for the Antminer S19, the original S19 series model introduced in 2019, and the S19 Pro, a higher hashrate version released in 2020. Bitcoin miners and researchers interested in downloading LuxOS can do so here.

This expanded support comes after Luxor launched LuxOS in March with initial support for the Antminer S19j Pro and Antminer S19 XP. Luxor plans to release support for additional S19 models in the coming months. Currently, only S19j Pros, S19 XPs, and S19 Pros, and S19 with Xilinx control boards are supported. The Luxor team built LuxOS from scratch in Rust, so it does not rely on open source software like CG miner.

Firmware is a type of software that provides operating instructions to computer hardware. For Bitcoin miners, firmware allows them to adjust the ASIC chips in their Bitcoin mining rigs to optimize hashrate and power efficiency. When mining profitability is low, miners can use firmware like LuxOS to improve their machine’s power efficiency to increase margins. When profitability is high, miners can use firmware to increase a machine’s hashrate and accelerate their return on investment.
